What Does a BIMI Validator Check?
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) allows your logo to appear in customer inboxes, but has strict prerequisites. Our BIMI Validator checks the key components of your setup:
- DMARC Enforcement: First, it confirms that your domain has a DMARC policy of `p=quarantine` or `p=reject`, which is a mandatory requirement.
- BIMI DNS Record: It looks for the `default._bimi` TXT record in your DNS and checks its syntax.
- Logo & VMC: It parses the record to find the URL for your SVG logo and, if present, your Verified Mark Certificate (VMC), checking for accessibility.
Validating these components ensures that your brand is technically ready to take advantage of the increased trust and visibility that BIMI provides.
BIMI Validator FAQs
What are the requirements for a valid BIMI record?
A valid BIMI setup requires several components: 1) A DMARC policy at enforcement (p=quarantine or p=reject). 2) A correctly formatted SVG logo file hosted at an HTTPS URL. 3) A valid BIMI TXT record in your DNS at `default._bimi.yourdomain.com`. 4) For some providers like Gmail, a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) is also required.
My BIMI record is valid, but my logo isn't showing. Why?
There are several reasons your logo might not appear even with a valid record. Common issues include not having a DMARC policy at enforcement, the logo not being a specific SVG Tiny 1.2 format, lacking a required VMC, or the recipient's mail provider not supporting BIMI. Your overall sender reputation can also play a role.
